About Sagrada Madre
Sagrada Madre was born in Argentina in late 2017, when two brothers envisioned producing innovative incense using the highest-quality natural elements. By December 2018 the venture had grown to employ over 120 families, half of whom are women and sole providers for their households.
Their guiding values are respect, quality, honesty, care, work and humility. They believe in fair trade at every level — from the sourcing of raw materials, to fair wages, to creating meaningful opportunities for everyone we partner with. They support the local economy: many of the flowers, herbs and raw materials used in Sagrada Madre’s incense are sourced locally from Argentina, including work with local entrepreneurs and indigenous communities. They are also organizing workshops in permaculture and long-term sustainable production systems to align with Earth-wise practices.
From an environmental perspective, Sagrada Madre is committed to tangible positive impact. They take part in reforestation efforts in collaboration with rural communities — for example each rainfall period they partner with farmers near Andanjo in Piura, Peru to plant native Palo Santo trees and restore degraded forest ecosystems. They also engage in “up-cycling” initiatives, such as using fruit-pulp biomass that would otherwise be discarded — more than 100 tons annually in Patagonia are transformed into a neutral-aroma base for our incense production.
Their mission is to facilitate connection with nature and spirituality, and to inspire and accompany people toward a more conscious lifestyle. The vision is to build a sustainable company that generates actions to better the world, recognised by both consumers and collaborators for our purpose and legacy for the future.
